I'm pleased to announce the submission of a new study into the Archives of Neuroimaging Meta-Analyses (ANIMA) database: Hu et al., 2015. Hu and colleagues used activation likelihood estimation (ALE) meta-analyses to address the question: how does the brain represent "self"? The authors performed a conjunction analysis on studies which assessed the ability to recognize one's own face ("physical self"), and the ability to perform self-referential reasoning ("psychological self"). They found that, across many such studies, there was consistent activation in dorsal anterior cingulate cortex and the left inferior frontal gyrus. Check out the link above to have a look at their findings in the 2D Papaya viewer, or download the study data and have a look in my Volume Viewer tool.
